It’s time for yet another showdown of cars found on Goo-Net that follow a specific theme.
Today, we’re focusing on mainstream cars with unusual door layouts.
The first vehicle comes from France, the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The 1007 features 2 doors, one on each side, and they’re both sliding doors.
This example is listed with 57,000km/35,418 miles on it, but the odometer reads 54,591km/33,921 miles on it. Perhaps it’s a typo in the listing?
The price? 650,000 yen, or $5,976.19.
The second contender is a home market model, a brand new
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
with 20km/12.42 miles on it.
The Spade, and it’s twin, the Porte, feature a three-door layout, with a power sliding door on the left (passenger) side, and two conventional doors on the driver’s side. And this one is also handicap accessible, with a seat that rotates out of the vehicle for easy entry.
Though it’s the newest car, it’s not the most expensive, listed for 1,690,000 yen/$15,538.10.
Lastly, our third competitor here comes from South Korea. It’s a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , with it’s 3-door layout of one conventional door on the driver’s side, and two on the passenger’s side.
This one appears to be a U.S.-spec model, with a left-hand-drive configuration, an XM button (for satellite radio) on the dash, and a primarily M.P.H. speedometer.
It also has the standard 1.6 liter engine, and 7,273 miles/11,704km on it, and a listing price of 1,700,000 yen/$15,630.04, less than a grand more than the Spade above.
So now, there’s a decision to be made. Which car would you rather own?
The funky French 1007 with two sliding doors? The stylish Toyota Spade with two conventional doors and a sliding door? Or the US-spec Veloster with three conventional doors?

As a Peugeot fan (I own 4 Peugeots), I’ll pass on the 1007. It’s a compact yet fat pig that’s perfect for the elderly, and I’m not elderly.
The Spade is a wrong hand drive autobox equipped small MPV, modified for the handicapped. None of those qualities are appealing to my interests.
The Veloster is correct hand drive, but it’s a Veloster and the speedometer has legacy units. I’ll pass.
Can’t I pick something else? Pretty please? Don’t make me pick the Veloster!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find one on Goo-Net.
There was also a Saturn SC on there, but it wasn’t 100% factory stock, and the fact that it has a car bra on it would probably repel more people than it would attract.

‘Goo-net’ is a terrible name for a car exchange website.
That said, the Peugeot is more interesting because we already get the Veloster here in the states. Also, Hyundai? If you’re going to give your car a name like that and add a turbo, you could at least make it as quick as a Focus ST.

Was there a Toyota SERA on there? Because that had awesome doors.

I completely forgot about the Sera, actually. But there are 4 of them on the site.

I’d have to go for the Peugeot 1007. I don’t like the idea of one door on one side and two on another. Unless it’s a van with front doors, kerbside loading door and rear doors.

Many may find them goofy looking, however, I’d love to see sliding doors as more common outside of minivans they’re just so damn functional & make so much sense.

I really appreciate the alterations! In my opinion it makes the article much more enjoyable and it’s always interesting to see what popular consensus thinks is the best! I’d take the Spade myself because Toyota reliability and three doors is better than a wheezy French econobox and a poseur Korean ‘coupe’. Keep these posts coming! ;)
